Est. by lantern-light · A guild for writers
You were never looking for
another writing app.
You were looking for a place to belong.
Loudstone Guild is a living writing guild where authors are guided by a thoughtful Steward, encouraged by fellow writers, and surrounded by a world built to help them become the storytellers they were made to be.
No streaks. No algorithms. No pressure.
Just writers, stories, and a lantern left burning for your return.
Why the Guild exists
The world has a habit of
naming people wrongly.
Lazy, when you were only exhausted. Too much, when you were simply fully alive. Behind, when you were quietly becoming. And most of us, eventually, begin repeating those names to ourselves.
Facts inform; stories reform. A story lets you live inside another life long enough to recognize your own, and learning to tell yours is how you take your name back. The Guild exists so you never have to do that alone.
The difference
These are not features.
They are beliefs.
Not an app.
Every writer keeps a permanent Study that grows alongside them, year after year.
Not a chatbot.
It doesn’t write for you, it notices. A perceptive reader that sees the patterns already in your pages, remembers what matters, and helps you trust your own voice.
Not a network.
A community of writers who celebrate beginnings, encourage one another through hard chapters, and know that stories are rarely written alone.
Not a platform.
Room to write your first book. And your twentieth. The road does not end at a finish line.
The rooms of the Guild
A place you can walk through.
The Great Hall
Where you arrive, and where you are welcomed home.
Your Study
Your own room, and the Chair where you think beside the Steward.
The Library
Wonder and craft, the Landmarks you return to often.
The Scriptorium
The desk where the manuscript grows, page by page.
The Forge
Where good writing is made, revision, and craft, taught.
The Kitchen
Coffee, the long table, and the company of other writers.
The Courtyard
A place to breathe, and to gain a little perspective.
The Gallery
Finished stories, kept as testimony, never as trophies.
The Archives
Everything remembered, so you can see how far you’ve come.
Inside your Study
The room becomes the story of your writing life.
Every writer receives a permanent Study. It changes as you change. Books accumulate on the shelves. The Guest Book fills. Waystones appear along the path. Slowly, quietly, the room becomes unmistakably yours.
Meet the Steward
“The Steward never takes the pen.”
The Steward doesn’t write, it notices. Think of it as attention held over time: a careful reader’s eye for the patterns already in your pages, the image that keeps returning, the word you’ve leaned on, the place a scene slows, the feeling you named instead of showed. It holds up what it sees like a lantern, so you can look, teaches the craft behind it, and remembers what matters to you, then leaves the page, and the meaning, entirely yours. It never rewrites who you are, because your voice isn’t manufactured, it’s uncovered: the sound of you after you’ve stopped performing. It sits in the smaller chair, beside you, and walks the road at your pace.
How you grow here
The Guild doesn’t write your book.
It makes you the writer who can.
Everything here bends toward one outcome: you, leaving stronger than you came, able to hear your own weak beat, name your own sagging scene, and fix it in your own voice. Here is how the Guild actually does that.
Your craft, taught back to you
Bring a page, and the Guild shows you where a scene slows, where dialogue is carrying too much, where a feeling is named instead of shown. It never rewrites your words, it teaches the principle on a small example of its own, then hands the page back. The fix, and the skill, stay yours.
A guide who notices
The Steward notices what you’re too close to see, a repeated word, an image that keeps returning, a scene that sags, asks the question that opens it, teaches the craft underneath, and remembers the book you’re building. It holds up what it sees; you decide what it means.
Revision that feels finite
Your manuscript lives here with a clear set of passes, structure, character, pacing, prose. “Edit the whole book” stops being a cliff you dread and becomes a path you walk, one honest pass at a time.
Practice without stakes
A short daily exercise, never graded, that stretches one muscle, subtext, sensory detail, sentence rhythm, then sends you back to the page with it loosened. Reps, not scores. You keep what you wrote only if you want to.
Craft you can return to
Essays on the real work of storytelling, kept where you’ll find them again. A lesson learned once is one you can walk back to whenever the book asks for it, wonder and craft, side by side.
Writers who’ve been there
A calm room for the craft question, the stuck chapter, the trusted first read, encouragement over competition, teaching over criticism, and never a popularity contest. Because no one writes a book alone.
The writing journey
Not ranks. Stages of becoming.
What we believe
A note from the founder
I built the Guild because I couldn’t find my place.
So I made one.
Right now, I am the Guild’s only member. I won’t fill this page with reviews that don’t exist yet, that isn’t how this place works. What I can offer you instead is honest: a room made with care, a lantern already lit, and a chair saved beside mine.
If you walk these halls long enough, I hope you don’t leave sounding more like me. I hope you leave sounding more like yourself. Protect your own fingerprint. Tell the story only you can tell.
Come be among the first, and leave the fire burning. Someone you’ve never met is already walking toward it.

Questions, answered plainly
Before you step inside.
The honest answers to what the Guild is, how it helps you write, what happens to your work, and what it costs.
What exactly is Loudstone Guild?
A living writing guild, a place, not an app. Inside, you keep a permanent Study that grows with you, you’re joined by a thoughtful Steward who teaches craft and remembers your work, and you have rooms for drafting, revising, and learning, a Library of craft, and a small community of writers building beside you.
It’s made for writers who want to become stronger storytellers, not just produce more words, faster.
So what is the Steward, really?
Think of it as attention held over time. It isn’t a writer and it isn’t a critic, it’s a careful reader that notices the patterns in your work (the images that recur, the rhythm of your sentences, the places your voice sounds most like itself) and holds them up like a lantern, so you can see your own writing more clearly.
It remembers what matters to you across every session, teaches craft when you ask, and always leaves the meaning, and the pen, in your hands. The noticing is its gift; the story is always yours.
Is the Steward going to write my book for me?
No, and it never will. The Steward doesn’t write; it notices. It has a careful reader’s eye for the patterns already in your pages, where a scene slows, the word you’ve used three times, the feeling you named instead of showed, and it holds up what it sees so you can look, then teaches the craft behind it.
When it shows you a technique, it uses a small example of its own, never your sentences. Even if you ask it to rewrite your line, it will gently decline and teach you the principle instead, so the words, and the meaning, stay yours. A guide beside you, never a ghostwriter.
How does it actually make me a better writer?
Concretely: in the Forge, you can bring a page and have it taught back to you, where a scene slows, where dialogue carries too much, where a feeling is named instead of shown. The Writing Gym gives you short, low-stakes daily practice. The Scriptorium breaks “edit the whole book” into finite, walkable passes. The Library holds craft essays you can return to. And the Commons gives you real writers to ask.
The measure of success is the day you catch your own weak beat before the Steward can, and fix it in your own voice.
Do I need to be published, or “good,” to belong?
No. Everyone arrives an apprentice, the published novelist and the first-timer cross the very same threshold, at the same height. You don’t have to be good to belong here, and you don’t have to become good to keep belonging.
The Guild is built especially for neurodivergent writers, and for anyone who’s spent a lifetime being told they write “wrong.” You’re welcome exactly as you are, and the whole place is built for the way your mind actually works: calm, keyboard-friendly, reduced-motion, and free of the noise and overwhelm most apps pile on.
Can I bring a book I’ve already started?
Yes. Bring the manuscript you’ve already begun and the Guild will settle it into chapters you can pick right back up, you don’t have to start over to start here.
Who owns what I write here?
You do, completely. Your stories are yours. The Guild takes no rights to your work, and nothing you write is ever held hostage. If you ever leave, you take everything with you.
Is my writing private? Is it used to train anything?
Your manuscript is private, and the conversations in your Study are sealed. Your work is not used to train anything, and the Steward never reproduces or rewrites your prose, craft demonstrations always use invented examples, never your own lines. “Your words never leave this page” is a rule the Guild builds around, not a slogan.
The Guild keeps your work permanent by default, nothing is quietly deleted or aged out, and you can edit or release anything you’ve written whenever you wish.
What if I lose my work?
You won’t. Every chapter saves as you write, and the Guild keeps your earlier versions, so a paragraph you cut on a hard day is never truly gone. You can always look back, and restore. Nothing here is overwritten into oblivion.
Your words are safe, because in this house nothing is lost.
Is this a social network? Are there likes and followers?
No, and never by accident. There are no follower counts, no leaderboards, no streaks, no infinite scroll, and no popularity ranking, on purpose. It’s a workshop, not a feed.
The community exists for encouragement and craft, not competition. Instead of a “like,” members offer warm acknowledgments, this encouraged me, this made me think, that add value without turning writing into a contest.
What if my capacity is low, or I need to step away?
Your chair is kept. Membership is never revoked because life got hard or because you went quiet. There are no streaks to break and no guilt waiting for you.
Whenever you come back, a week later or a year later, the welcome is “We’re glad you’re back,” never “you missed a lot.”
Why does the price go up? What is “The First Fifty”?
The Guild’s price rises only as the rooms fill, never on a countdown clock, only as the community grows. The first fifty writers through the door (the “First Lanterns”) lock in $90 a year, the lowest rate the Guild will ever offer, for as long as they stay. Charter members, the next hundred and fifty, join at $149. After that, membership settles at $199.
Everyone gets the exact same Guild. The only thing that changes is what the earliest writers pay, a thank-you to the ones who came while the fire was young.
Is the founding price really locked? And what’s included?
For as long as you stay a member, yes, your founding rate holds. It’s a locked recurring price, not a one-time gimmick.
And it’s one membership, everything included: every room, your Study, the Steward, the community, and the whole Library. There are no tiers that buy a “better seat,” no add-ons, and no upsells. You can pay monthly or yearly, and come and go as you like.
It’s brand new, and you’re the only member. Why join now?
Because that’s exactly what makes you a First Lantern. I built the Guild because I couldn’t find my place, so I made one, and I’m inviting others in. Joining now means helping shape the culture of the room, and locking the lowest rate there will ever be.
You’re not buying a finished product. You’re helping light a fire that writers you’ve never met are already walking toward.
